Pvt Ira Follin
Member of "The Comanches" White's 35th Battalion, Virginia Cavalry, Company C. Enlisted July 20, 1863 at Trapp Virginia. Captured Sept.28, 1864 at Dranesville. Sent to Old Capitol Ptison, trans. to Fort Warren. Released June 15, 1865, Also in 43rd Battalion Virginia Cavalry, Company G. Mosby's Command.
Ira was born in Fairfax Virginia, and lived in Hillsboro and Jefferson (Loudoun County) with his first wife Margaret Underwood. Ira's occupation was Carpentry. After Margaret died, he lived in Fairfax again with his second wife, Laura Lee Galleher, and then was buried next to his first wife's grave in Arnold Grove in Hillsboro.
Interesting Family Note:
Ira's grandfather, John Follin, was a Revolutionary War Veteran and one of only eleven who are buried (re-interred) at Arlington National Cemetery. John's headstone inscription reads: John Follin a native of Fairfax County Virginia entered the American Navy in his 17th year, captured by the British on the high seas and confined for three years as a prisoner of war. Exchanged near the close of the revolution.

I have information concerning Jack Craig's Eagle Scout project concerning Ira Follin. Ira follin was the eldest son of Joeseph Nathaniel Follin. Joeseph was the son of John Follin who had 30 chldren, 21 by his first wife Catherine and 9 by his 2nd wife Mary. Joeseph was the son of John and his 2nd wife Mary. John Follin was born sept 5 1761 and died may 19 1841, he served in the navy during the American Revolution and is buried in Arlington National Cementary. Ira Follin had 10 children, 8 by his first wife Margaret and 2 by his 2nd wife Laura. Ira`s first born was Theodore born June 28, 1868. Theodore Follin 1st married R.B. Riley, they had 4 children, Lena, Annie, Craven, and Herman. His 2nd wife was Stella Moreland and they had 3 sons Theodore D. Follin, Ira G.Follin, Earl Lynn Follin. Theodore and Ira served in WWII.—Gordon Follin
